Today, there are internet companies out there that have no repercussions for unethical behavior. I am talking about spyware, the programs that get installed onto your computer from the Web sites you visit used for the purpose of tracking your internet behavior so that they can compile data, study what works and what does not, to sell and market to you better. There is no one out there regulating these types of activities. The programs are not necessarily reputable, meaning they can damage the data on your computer. In just one month of internet activity, you can and will have hundreds of spyware instances installed onto your computer without your knowing it, getting deep into your program files and registry entries. Another issue, as you browse the internet, temporary files get placed into a folder to allow faster loading the next time you visit the page. Installing programs opens files stored in a temp folder on your computer, and are not always
deleted upon completion of installing a program. These files can and do bog down your computer,
making it more and more difficult for your computer to process at the speed it did when it
was new.Lastly, as you install and uninstall programs, move files around, delete emails, etc., files become orphans or fragments of what they were when the program was fully installed. Your computer does not always know what to do with these remaining files. Some need to be removed manually, others the computer needs to be instructed what to do with them. Again, they can and do bog down your computer, slowing it's processing speed. Files get misplaced and out of order, and your computer needs to put them back where they belong to function properly. Over time, it is possible and very likely that all of these factors, if not taken care of, can and will cause a system crash generating full data loss! At that time, people usually reformat (delete their entire hard drive and start over, reloading all their programs), or spend a couple thousand to buy a new computer! And all of their issues could have been prevented. Your computer can not take care of any of these things by itself, it needs to be instructed to do so. Some internet providers provide anti-spyware programs, however, they just help, they are NOT fail-safes, spyware gets deep into your system, and these issues must be corrected manually.
